Can you use bacteria or virus in immunization to generate polyclonal antibodies?

Yes, we can, with certain restrictions.

We can do immunization with bacterial and viral suspensions, but both need to be inactivated. 

The antigens need to be free of any toxins which could harm the rabbits.

Typically, we receive washed bacterial pellets which we suspend and aliquot for immunization.
